Read how we handle your details
What the house collects when you book, how long we keep it, who sees it and how to ask for it back.
What happens to the details you give us
Details you type into a form
The booking form asks for your name, your email address, the evening and time you'd like, the number in your party and a comment if you have one. Your mobile number is optional. We ask for nothing else, and the form never asks for payment details, because nothing on this website is paid for.
The age tick-box is a statement, not a document. We don't collect proof of age online; any identification is checked in person at the door and is neither copied nor kept.
How long we keep them
A booking request is kept until the evening has passed and for a short while afterwards, so Olivia can answer follow-up questions or find a lost jacket. After about twelve months it is deleted from the booking book and from the inbox. If you write to us about something else, we keep the correspondence only as long as it is useful.
Who else sees them
Your details are read by the house staff who handle reservations. They are held on the operator's systems and in the booking book at the venue. We do not sell them, rent them or pass them to marketers. They may be shared with a service provider that hosts our email or website, solely so that the service works, or with a regulator if the law demands it.
Your rights
You can ask what we hold about you, ask us to correct it or ask us to delete it, simply by writing to the address in the footer or ringing the house. We aim to respond within a few working days. If you are unhappy with our answer, you can take the matter to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner.
Why we use them and what allows it
What we use them for
We use your details to answer your request, confirm a table, tell you if something changes on the night and, occasionally, tell you that the new menu has begun if you have asked for that. We do not build profiles, rank guests or run any automated decisions about you.
What lets us use them
The operator of the venue, named on the page Who keeps the house and in the footer, uses your details because you asked us to: sending the form is a request to take a booking. Where we want to do something more, such as send a note about the menu, we will ask first and you can say no.
We handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles, as they apply to a small venue, and we try to collect as little as we can.
Cookies and similar files
This website keeps two tiny notes in your browser and shows an embedded map on the contact page. The page called Cookies and consent explains each one in plain language, including how to remove them, and how the consent choice you make is remembered.
